Facilities
Experimental facilities that make our research possible
Our research facilities are equipped with a comprehensive array of state-of-the-art experimental equipment, supporting various stages of material development and analysis which are mostly shared throughout the School of engineering, such as 3D printing such as binder jet, polymer printing, metal printing, Electro-mechanical test machines, Electro-dynamic test machines, High strain rate facilities, Hydraulic test machines for static or cyclic testing, Vibration testings, Strain Measurement Equipment, Digital Image Correlation, High-speed imaging etc. Some of the testing equipment are shown below:

Electromechanical machines for static loading and materials characterisation

Computing facilities that make our research possible
EMSL members have unlimited access to UoS’s HPC facilities, which include a different Tier of high-performance computing cluster, including the Iridis Compute Cluster. Iridis is currently in its fifth generation and remains one of the largest computational facilities in the UK.
